He was born 1960 in Argos. Within the environment that he lived, the element of "laika (folk)" music was very strong. He listened to the "rebetika" and postwar "lika" for the first time on records that his father had. The song, "Sinnefiasmeni Kiriaki (Cloudy Sunday)" with Marika Ninou and Vasilis Tsitsanis impressed him a lot and was what started his long-term relationship with the bouzouki.

Around 1968 he would find out the latest songs by listening to the radio. During that time, record company "Columbia" would present its songs every Sunday.

He started playing the bouzouki while in elementary school. He learned to play his first songs from his father, an amateur musician, but was enough to fuse his initiation with the bouzouki and made him love and dedicate a large part of his life to it. Even though he was self-taught by not taking any lessons from a teacher, he considers all those bouzouki virtuosos that he would listen to through their albums with great interest, them as teachers. At the age of 15 while he was a junior high school student, he began to play professionally. A few years later, in 1983 he collaborated with Mary Linda, and after with many other well-known singers.

His most important and closer collaborations were later on with Maria Farantouri and George Dalaras. With Maria Farantouri, he played in great music halls at many European countries such as, the "Wiener Konzerthaus" in Vienna, the "Munich Philharmonic ", etc. With George Dalaras, he gave performances at the "Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Herodeo)", "Concert Hall" of Athens and Thessalonica, etc. He also performed in concerts with Haris Alexiou, Dimitris Mitropanos, Marinela, Manolis Mitsias and others.

Along with his various collaborations with singers and the concert performances during these past years, his main preoccupation since 1990 has been with teaching and research-study, in order for the instrument to acquire a well-documented technique followed by an integrated curriculum, in order for it to be tough at schools and conservatories in a more organized manner. Within the realm of this effort, other activities include his discography, giving seminars, and publishing books.
